Port Talbot Harriers suffered a lean spell in theĀ 1970s. The senior section was practically non-existent due to athletes either departing or retiring. However, the junior sections were steadily building a strong foundation for the future. Two of the young stars gained international recognition and were honoured at a presentation ceremony in 1976.
Pamela Walker represented Wales U17 at Aberdeen and was in brilliant form. She won the 200m, high jump and ran a leg in the winning relay team. Her outstanding performance earned her the Athlete of the Day Award.
David Morgan won the West Glamorgan Schools 200m title and represented Welsh Schools in the UK Schools Championships in Edinburgh.
Both athletes were presented with framed photos in honour of their achievements.
